Here are few of the initial idea and planning before striving the topic "Colours" into a more deeper context. Using children as a form of experimentation to research and gather information to find out more than just the colours itself in an illustration book outcome. The intention of my independence project is to challenge myself to explore mix media illustration techniques in an exciting outcome. Hence, the book itself is to educate children to be curious with colours by stimulating and evoke their mindset differently.
Primary Research
Here are few of the Interview question that will be ask to the children. The target audience that I am approaching are children from the age group of 6-10 years old. According to HealthLinkBC (n.d.), children from 6-10 develop a more mature and logical way of thinking through their participation and getting involvement through learning. Therefore, through this target audience I am able to find out more that relates to my topic ‘Colours In Children Mindset’. This shows that a child's mindset will have a significant effect on the way they think and approach it. The reason that I specify on doing this age group is because children's mindset strives to engage by using their imagination and creativity towards their understanding and knowledge.

In total I've interviewed 4 children regarding the topic Colours In Children Mindset. Some of these data and information which I've collected will showcase on the illustration book design.

Conducted a survey for the parents to answer the questionnaire. The reason is to gain more information regarding the topic "Colours In Children Mindset". Every question are reflected based on their parents understanding towards their children.
Inspiration & Practitioners

Christoph Niemann execution of his ideas, he not only combines traditional pen and pencil with digital tools, but also with materials such as dough, leaves, bills, or toys. He places everyday objects like paper clips, coat hangers, coffee cups, and salt shakers in free association in unexpected and sometimes ironic contexts. (Mak, n.d.)

All in all, these practitioners has inspire me to use daily object and different medium to portrays the message of the illustration design in another context.

Yael Frankel inspiration come from everything and everywhere; a movie, a book she's reading, a shape in the street, other picture-books, other artists, some words she hear during working day. The vision about Frankel work that is related to the quality which she aspire. Respecting children is her main priority and she's always aiming for that. She refuse to use simple shapes or primary colours because it is for kids. She think they are as prepared as us (or even more) to receive the better we can offer in every instance of their life. Sketches & experimentation

Experimenting and testing certain technique to form my book design. Mix media consists of paper, object, marker pen, actual image, digitally and others more. One of the ways that caught my attention is that every art piece can form different shape in another outcome.
