Group 1 presentation - Anti Consumerism and the analysis of anti consumerism from Adbusters Magazine

To begin with, anti-consumerism is a principal of social political which opposed on consumerism. It repeat frequently on buying and consume materials which will lead to possessions. In addition, it began from a contemporary analysis of industrialism. Anti-consumerism brings major concern to the agency on social welfare and politics as an example environmental protection, ethics and animal rights.

Next, for the Adbusters magazine an example was suggested on food fight which was MCD logo. The alphabet M from the MCD logo tells us that fast food is really bad like you will die younger “EAT FAST, DIE YOUNG” as mentioned above. The message that they convey is very simple and straight to the point. The next example was, the Absolute Vodka poster. The poster shapes the design approval to the commercial design culture in a consumerist economy. Furthermore, Adbusters replicates the copy of Absolute Vodka of their iconic bottle silhouette ads with their creative copywriting. The purpose of it is to show the negative outcomes of drinking. As a result, it will increased the performances such as suicide, violence, coma, heart attack and others more.
