Interview Session

Over the week, I've conducted an interview with my cousin regarding her career and passion as a pianist lifestyle. The following paragraph will explain her pathway and future along the process.🎹 🎼 🎶 🎹 🎼






Question

1. What & why makes you so passionate into playing musical instruments?

- Expose to sing, dance, explore and learn about rhythms, movements and sound

- Expose to musicianship and early childhood instruments - xylophone and metallophone



2. Who is your practitioner / someone that inspires you? How does it motivate your upbringing?

- Her mom motivates and guided her since young (started age of 5)

- Creates music environment for Shanhui

- Always surrounded by music

- Strong foundation and passion for music and arts



3. What is your favourite music genre you’re interested in?

- Classical Music

- Interest in contemporary music (arranging and mixing)



4. What makes your “Musician – Pianist” career so professional & talented? Are there any hidden talents behind it?

- Practice regularly and do not give up – strive for success

- Finish Trinity Grade 8 at age of 12, ATCL at 15 and LTCL at 17. Currently, she’s in her 2nd semester majoring in Bachelor in Classical Music, Piano.

- Talented in multiple skills - violin, cello, drums, guitar, drama, singing and dancing.



5. How do you see music from a different perspective? Why do people think musical instruments are very difficult to professionalize?

- Music has a massive impact on our lives

- Music touches our souls so deeply because we humans are born poetic and life has a rhythm flow on its own.

- It defines us as humans on so many levels, it has been around forever, enhancing the tunes of our lives , keeping us in touch with nature, beauty, harmony, culture and our sense in a very diverse world.

- In a different perspective, music does not only improves our emotional wellbeing, it can even change the way we perceive the world.

- Music has helped her into the kind of person she's today, as well as the kind of person that she strive to become in the future.

- Music gives me her the strength to push forward, to achieve her goals and to believe that she have the power to change the fate of our world.

- Her greatest desire is for everyone to feel and experience the everlasting power and beauty of music and to recognize the tremendous impact it has on our lives.



6. Do you think music can make a change in people’s life? Why? - Yes. She enjoy watching the growth of her individual students.

- She believe that every individual has the ability to increase their physical, emotional and intellectual wellbeing through music.

- It's an universal language which we can learn to express ourselves.

- Children should also learn music in a group, as they learn how to interact and make music together while sharing their knowledge and their happiness to the loved ones around them.

- All children are unique and special

- They learn differently and she love to discover and unveil the best version of themselves by discovering the best approach for them to learn music

- Assist them psychologically in their growth (Music)

- The qualities go a long way in a children’s character development and developing a lifelong interest in their lives.

- Important quote / message: "In a perfect world , I hope to continue discovering new ways to share my passion for music with the community and wish to contribute to the younger generation with the knowledge that I have gained throughout these 18 years."

- Music is a big part of her life and career

- Music can have in various form such as feel and make music.

- Continue this approach and influence younger generations to enjoy music and learn in a fun way.



7. What are some challenges / struggles you’ve faced during your pathway as a pianist? What might happen if your musician career is down? Does the MCO make it very difficult for you to perform and take part in competition around the world?

- The psychology and mental stability that she've to sustain throughout the whole recital .

- It’s not about playing the right notes / rhythms, it is how you mentally prepare yourself before you play each note.

- The mental preparation and the decision she make in her mind before each of her fingers depress into the piano keys.

- The understanding your pieces, portraying the story through music.

- The journey is more important than the destination when you are learning and enjoying music.

- Teaches discipline, self confidence, perseverance and patience.

- Learn how to conquer new challenges while tackling these obstacles in music

- She learn new skill that will broaden her mental toolbox, realise more methods and ways to endure her new difficulties.

- Her mother once told her “Life is like a piano. What you get out of it, it depends on how you play it".
