Group work activity mindmap
In week 3 - Translation and Transmission subject, our group are assign to do some reading research and came up with a mindmap. There are three question which are Asking Effective Questions, Survey Research and Qualitative Interview Techniques.
First of all, writing down effective survey questions is to identify what exactly the person wish to know. In addition, by keeping the question clear and succinct it will prevent misunderstanding from other people. Not only that, questions has to be relevant to the respondents to understand. Using filter question is to identify some subset of survey respondents who are asked additional questions that are not relevant to the entire sample. Next is avoid using terms or phrases that may be regionally or culturally specific. Finally, it is important to get feedback on the survey questions from as many people as possible, especially people who are like those in your sample. The more feedback the person can get on your survey questions, the better the chances that they will come up with a set of questions that are understandable to a wide variety of people.
Survey research is a quantitative and qualitative method with two important characteristics. It has a roots in applied social research, market research and election polling. With that it includes political science, sociology and public. Health where it continue to be one of the primary approaches for collecting new data. Moreover, survey research was considerable attention that paid to the issues of sampling. Another important approach in many academic discipline which includes political science, sociology, public health and psychology.
The aim for Qualitative Interview Techniques is to hear from respondent own words on what they think is important about the topic on hand. Qualitative interviews might feel more like a conversation than an interview to respondents. However the researcher is in fact usually guiding the conversation with the goal in mind of gathering information from a respondent. It is an excellent way to gather details information. Any topic can be explored in much more depth with interviews than with almost any other method. Not only are participants given the opportunity to elaborate in a way that is not possible with other methods such as survey research but they also are able share information with researchers in their own words and from their own perspectives.
