Amnesty International is a non-government organisation with the headquarters in the United Kingdom, which focused on the human rights. The organisation of the campaign is for “a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights instruments”. The campaign "Not here but now", demonstrates on how human rights violations take place every day. The purpose of it is to sensitise people to the issues of human rights and to stimulate debate. The poster campaign brought the shocking truth about global human rights violations directly to the Swiss people. (Amnesty International - it's not happening here, but it's happening now, 2006)





In London, Amnesty International was founded in 1961. In addition, the publication of the article on “the Forgotten Prisoners” in The Observer on 28 May 1961, by the lawyers Peter Benenson and Philip James. This shows that it draws attention to human rights abuses and campaign for compliance with the international laws and standards. It works to mobilize public opinion to generate pressure on governments where abuse takes place. Amnesty considers capital punishment to be "the ultimate, irreversible denial of human rights."
